Application of unique device identification in hospital′s medical consumables supply chain: practice and experience

This paper introduced the current demands for medical consumables supply chain and the management characteristics of unique device identification(UDI). In line with management needs of the hospital and management of high-risk medical consumables, the paper proposed to establish the UDI-based database, and the solution of standardized coding management and information system equipped with barcode resolution and automatic identification. These efforts provide useful references to overcome difficulties in product identification, process management, and follow-up tracking of such consumables.
