Optimal handling and efficient delivery of feed to fish farms is of major importance, due to the fact the feed represents the single most important economic factor in fish farming. This chapter gives an overview of different feeding systems for formulated feed, including necessary inputs to operate such systems. Feeding concepts, as restricted or ad libitum feeding, are also briefly described as these are important for selecting an appropriate feeding system. Automatic feeding systems can be divided into systems that require an input of external power and systems that can be operated without external power, and into systems with pure control and those with control and feedback. New trends, including remotely operated feeding and improved feed control using numerous sensors, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, are also discussed.
