A Randomized Controlled Trial of Electroacupuncture for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture for chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).Methods Sixty CFS patients were randomly divided into electroacupuncture acupoint group and electroacupuncture non -acupoint group,and respectively treated by Shenshu(BL 23) and Zusanli(ST 36) or by non-acupoints.The severity of fatigue,potential symptoms,pain severity and the quality of life were evaluated.Results The electroacupuncture at acupoints Shenshu(BL23) and Zusanli(ST36) decreased the integral of FSS,SPHERE,VAS and enhanced the integral of SF-36(P 0.01).Compared with control group,there was considerable differences(P 0.01).Conclusion Electroacupuncture at Shenshu(BL23) and Zusanl(iST36) can ease the clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life of CFS.
