A tentative study on producing lubricant base by rape-oil esterification

In this paper, the significance of producing lubricant base by rape-oil esterification is expounded, as well as the processes and mechanisms of esterification reactions. From the point of view of lubricant base, the main physical properties of esterification products from rape oil are discussed. The kinematic viscosity and solidification temperature of the mixtures of esterification products and conventional lubricant base are analyzed. It is concluded from this tentative study that producing lubricant base by rape-oil esterification is a valuable subject for further research and application.
