Objective Our aim was to compare with the efficacy and safety of propofol combined with fentanyl or remifentanil on anesthesia for induced abortion. Methods 200 patients undergoing painless induced abortion were randomly divided into two groups:the fentanyl group and remifentanil group, each group has 100 patients.Several factors were observed including the dose of propofol, vital signs, body movement, respiratory depression, recovery time after anesthesia and postoperative bellyache. Results The total doses of propofol during anesthesia in the fentanyl group was greater than that in the remifentanil group.Compared with remifentanil anesthesia induction, the blood pressure of fentanyl group decreased significantly. The recovered time in the remifentanil group was quicker than that in the fentanyl group.Compared with remifentanil group, the rate of respiratory depression in fentanyl group was increased significantly. And the incidence of postoperative bellyache was no significant in the fentanyl group and remifentanil group. Conclusion Target controlled infusion of remifentanil used in painless induced abortion had much more advantages than fentanyl, but attention must also be paid to respiratory management.
