In this paper, the adsorption and desorption of atrazine(AT)on single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNT)and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNT)in aqueous solution were studied in batch reactors. The results showed that the ionic strength had no significant influence on the adsorption of AT onto SWNT and MWNT.With the increase of pH,the adsorption of AT onto the two nanomaterials increased greatly, which indicated that the speciation of atrazine was the dominant factor controlling the adsorption capacity. The adsorption-desorption curves revealed that no significant desorption hysteresis existed under the conditions of this study.High adsorption capacity and adsorption reversibility of atrazine on carbon nanotubes(CNTs)imply that CNTs could result in health and environmental risks when applied on a large scale.
