Advances in the catalysts for synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) via liquid-phase oxidative carbonylation of methanol

Current dimethyl carbonate(DMC) synthesis catalysts via liquid-phase oxidative carbonylation of methanol include three catalytic systems:supported copper catalysts,cobalt complex catalysts and Cu-Pd systems,among which supported CuCl catalysts has been commercialized.Problems with CuCl catalysts include deterioration of the activity due to loss of Cl~-and consequent corrosion of downstream equipment,which are usually solved by stabilization of Cl~-via introducing ligands or promoters.Replacing Cl~-by other anions is a trend in this field and has promising prospect for commercial(application).
