摘要
Laser beam drilling (LBD) is a non-traditional machining process used to machine the majority of engineering materials like alloys, super alloys, ceramics, and composites. Most advanced engineering materials are hard to machine using traditional machining methods because of their superior mechanical or surface properties. Laser beam machining is a versatile unconventional machining process that can be used on both conductive and non-conductive materials. Based on experimental and theoretical research using pulsed Nd: YAG and CO2 laser drilling of fibre materials such as PMMP, thermoplastic, and PAN, this paper report the various optimization techniques that are beneficial for achieving the responses. The research also begins to look into the possibility of using an Nd: YAG laser to drill geometrically accurate holes in fibre materials.
