摘要
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate whether virtual experiences through short-form travel videos (SFTVs) can emulate physical and mental rejuvenation. Design/methodology/approach Using a phenomenological research approach, 27 interviews were conducted with demographically diverse participants. A framework was developed within which to analyze the relationship between SFTVs and mental health metrics. Findings The findings identified a cyclical process in which viewers engage with SFTVs as a coping therapy and experience emotional shifts that lead to sustained mental health benefits. The authors also conducted partial least square structural equation modeling to test the relationships between coping, emotions and healing, with the results reconfirming the interview findings. Originality/value It lays the groundwork for future research on the therapeutic potential of digital content and travel and provides insights for travel agents, marketers, content creators and mental health professionals.
