Objective To establish a method that can determine chloramphenicol in chloramphenicol cream.Methods Simultaneous equations of spectophotometry was applied for direct determination of two components of chloramphenicol(positive) and adjuvant(negative) without separation.The detected wavelengths were 258nm and 273nm,the maximun absorbance of the two components.Results The equations of chloramphenicol was:C L=59.6608A K+L 273-36.8621A K+L 258-0.4174.The corresponding average recovety was 100.04% for chloramphenicol whose RSD was 2.40%.Conclusions The method is simple,rapid and reproducible.The interference of the other components can be eliminated and the results are acceptable.
