Objective To evaluate the antitumor efficacy of Bifidobacterium longum carrying Interleukin-2 gene enriched with selenium(Se) in mice transplanted H22 liver tumor.Method The plasmid pBV22210-Interleukin-2(IL2) was transformed by electroporation into Bifidobacterium longum(B.longum).The B.longum-IL2 was cultured in the medium containing Na2SeO3 to get Se-enriched B.longum-IL2(Se-B.longum-IL2) which was then intravenously injected into mice bearing transplanted H22 liver tumor to evaluate the antitumor efficacy.Result Se-B.longum-IL2 significantly inhibited the tumor growth and extended the median survival time of tumor-bearing mice. Conclusion B.longum carrying IL2 gene and enriched with Se is a promising approach in gene therapy of liver cancer.
