GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND EXPLORATION PROSPECTIVITY OF THE SONGSHUGOU COPPER DEPOSIT

The Songshugou copper deposit occurs at the contact of a Permian porphyry granite and is clearly controlled by the porphyry granite. The geochemical and geological characteristics are the same a those of a porphyry copper deposit. A discussion on the genesis of the mineralization is used to determine the next steps for exploration at Songshugou and to guide porphyry copper exploration in west Tianshan region.
