摘要
Abstract Photoemission spectroscopy (XPS and UPS) has been used to investigate the electronic core levels and the valence band structure of HgO. Spin-orbit splitting rather than crystal field influence seems to predominate in the Hg 5d doublet separation. In spite of their different structure, HgO and other II-VI compounds present very similar valence band spectra.
