摘要
With the continuous increase in average life expectancy, population aging has become a significant health issue in the 21st century. The rising prevalence of age-related diseases has brought tremendous pressure on social medical systems and the economy. Against this backdrop, research on anticellular aging has become a hot spot in the field of biomedicine, and biomaterials are showing new trends and potential in this area. Compared to drugs and other traditional anti-aging strategies, biomaterials can be personalized to target the aging characteristics of different tissues, serving as drug delivery carriers to enhance targeting, and can directly influence the cellular aging process by modulating the cellular microenvironment. Furthermore, biomaterials offer innovative approaches to diagnosing age-related diseases and building sophisticated models, which enhance our understanding of the biology behind cellular aging and speed up the advancement of novel anti-aging treatments. This review synthesizes the latest advancements in biomaterial research for combating cellular aging, exploring future prospects and potential challenges.
