Effect of different doses and sources of phosphorus and phosphate solubilizing bacteria on the growth and yield of kharif rice.

The application of phosphorus in kharif rice significantly increased the growth characteristics (height of plant, dry matter accumulation and root dry weight) as well as yield attributes (number of effective tillers/m2, panicles/m2, filled grains/panicle, grain yield and straw yield) and N, P and K contents (%) and uptake (kg/ha) by kharif rice. The application of phosphorus @ 60 kg/ha as SSP+ phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) gave the maximum plant height, dry matter accumulation and root dry weight, yield attributes, grain yield, straw yield and N, P and K content and uptake of kharif rice at all the dates of observation. However, the results were statistically at par with the treatment receiving 30 kg P2O5/ha SSP.
