Structural Units in K 2 O‐PbO‐SiO 2 Glasses by Raman Spectroscopy

Raman spectra of glasses in the system K 2 O‐PbO‐SiO 2 and of crystalline K 2 O·4SiO 2 , K 2 O·2SiO 2 , K 2 O·SiO 2 , PbO, PbO· SiO 2 , K 2 O· PbO ·4SiO 2 , K 2 O· 4PbO ·8SiO 2 , and K 2 O ·2PbO· 2SiO 2 are reported and used to identify some of the structural units of the glasses. It is indicated that, in the glasses, silicate networks are present which are similar to those in crystalline K 2 O ·2SiO 2 , K 2 O ·SiO 2 , PbO ·SiO 2 , and K 2 O· PbO· 4SiO 2 , and to those in vitreous SiO 2 and 0.30PbO0.70SiO 2 glass.
