The investigation and analysis of undergraduate English listening

s: This paper reports a study that investigates the listening status of 240 non-English majors of our college freshmen. The major findings are as follows: Students’listening motivations and surroundings, techniques and strategies, teaching measures and methods in listening class are major factors to have effect on the development of students’listening. This study also discusses some effective approaches, namely optimizing listening teaching model, creating good listening surroundings, stimulating students’interests and selecting proper materials in order to improve English listening.
