Progressin epidemiology, pathogenesis and diagnosis of bronchiectasis-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasis have been considered to be independent of the two diseases.Recently, more and more studies have found that both have similar clinical symptoms and can exist in the same patients, namely the bronchiectasis-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap syndrome (BCOS). BCOS is a special phenotype of COPD.The pathogenesis may be related to the Cole vicious circle.It is common in older men who smoke for a long time.Antibiotic treatment requires a longer course of treatment.
