Evaluation of the proliferation character of pathological scars

Objective To evaluate the proliferation characters of pathological scars with AgNORs IOD level and Ki-67 LI.Methods 47 hyperplastic scars,22 cheloid tissues and 16 normal skins were involved in the present study.The AgNORs and Ki-67 LI were detected.Results The AgNORs IOD and Ki-67 LI of pathological scars were significantly higher than that of normal skins and that of hyperplastic scar.Conclusion There are different proliferation characters of fibroblast cells in hyperplastic scar,cheloids and normal skin.AgNORs IOD and Ki-67 may be useful in differential diagnosis of hyperplastic scar and cheloids.
