The steels of Q235 and Cor-TenA were exposed at Wanning site located in Hainan province of China. Samples were tested with different orientation, surface state, time, periods and distance to the sea. The corrosion products were tested with SEM and X-ray diffraction. It was proved that the abnormality of steels long-term corrosion at Wanning site is in fact the corrosion characteristics of hot and humid seashore atmosphere. The main reasons were the acceleration function of corrosion products formed in hot and humid, long time of sunshine, high intensity of solar radiation and high concentration of Cl-. The key factors determining the atmospheric corrosion of steel in this environment were hot and humid weather and the concentration of Cl-.
