Abstract This chapter introduces the synthesis methods for thermoelectric materials. We first introduce different types of melting methods for synthesizing bulk thermoelectric materials, including zone melting, solid-state reactions, induction melting, melting spinning, etc. Then, ball milling is highlighted for fabricating nanostructured thermoelectric materials because of the advantages of energy saving and fine grains. Afterward, solution synthesis methods are presented, followed by the exfoliation method to produce ultrathin films for thermoelectric applications. In addition, we introduce the high-pressure synthesis technology. Finally, we summarize the electrodeposition and chemical vapor deposition methods, which can be used to synthesize thin films and nanowires for fabricating thermoelectric devices.
