Donor Properties of Pyridine and Quinoline Carboxylic Acids · Pyridine and Quinoline Carboxylato Complexes of Chromium(lll)

Manuscript received 3 July 1976 ; accepted 10 November 1976 A few complexes with pyridine and quinoline carboxylic acids of general composition CrL₃ or Cr(LH)₃ (where LH and LH₂ represent monobasic and dibasic bidentate ligand respectively) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of magnetic moments, i.r. and visible spectral measurements and elemental analyses. Magnetic moments show three unpaired electrons per chromium for each complex. The complexes have two d-d transitions in the visible region. The i.r. spectra and molar conductance values of the complexes indicate the formation of neutral chelates.
