Application and Research Progress of Tantalum as Biomedical Material

Metal materials are considered as appropriate implanting materials in load-bearing position owing to their excellent mechanical properties and fatigue resistance.Therefore,some biomedical metal materials have been widely applied in clinic.The problems such as corrosion in vivo for most metal extremely restrict the clinical application of metal biomaterials.Tantalum(Ta) has attracted much attention due to its excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.The application and research of Ta in various medical fields and its investigation achievement are reviewed.
