摘要
We read with full interest the article ‘Is Airway Management More Risky in Bariatric Surgery?’, by Babayigit et al 1 B Babayigit M Dogan E Babayigit MA Bulus H Sahin M Ozayar E. Is airway management more risky in bariatric surgery?. J Perianesth Nurs. 2022; 37 (Kirmeier E, Eriksson LI, Lewald H, Jonsson Fagerlund M): 247-252 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (3) Google Scholar which compared the incidence of difficult ventilation (DV) and difficult intubation (DI) between bariatric surgery (BS) and other surgeries The authors concluded that potential airway problems and risk of complications might be similar between these groups under the conditions of their study. First of all, we would like to congratulate the authors for their research, and for providing such an insightful discussion on this topic. However, we would like to make some observations about airway management in obese patients and some limitations of this study regarding its generalizability to more heterogeneous samples of patients.
