            The electromechanical braking system (EMB) is a dry braking system derived from the electro-hydraulic braking system. It deviates from the conventional hydraulic circuit, using a motor drive mechanism to directly actuate the caliper for clamping braking. EMB has advantages in assembly, maintenance, response speed, and control accuracy. Its notable features include enhanced smoothness and scalability, making it a representative research focus in the latest generation of braking systems. This article systematically reviews the EMB structure, friction modeling, clamping force estimation and control, and redundancy technology, and conducts practical research. Firstly, the trial prototype of the self-developed EMB actuator was completed. Then, the friction and clamping characteristics were analyzed through experimental testing. Finally, several typical contact point detection and clamping force control methods were applied and verified. This article provides in-depth analysis and practice on key issues related to EMB, clarifying the current research problems and challenges.
