The inhibition of BTA from erosion corrosion of BFe30 1 1 in single andsand containing artificial seawater have been investigated usingrotating cylinder apparatus. The methods adopted in the experimentswere weight loss and electrochemical measurements including linearpolarization resistance and potentiodynamic scanning as well aselectrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that BTA couldsignificantly retarded both the anodic and cathodic reactions ofBFe30 1 1 in the media by geometric blocking effect. The adsorption ofBTA on the alloy followed Langmiur isotherm. BTA showed betterinhibition action in flowing seawater than in static seawater. However,the inhibiting action of BTA decreased when the fluid velocity ofartificial seawater was even higher. Furthermore, the inhibitionefficiency of BTA in sand containing artificial seawater decreased withincreasing sand content probably due to the strong mechanical erosionaction of sand against electrode surface.
