Bifunctionalization‐Based Catalytic Fluorination and Trifluoromethylation

This chapter describes the transition metal-catalyzed bifunctionalization of alkenes, including fluorination, trifluoromethylation, and trifluoromethoxylation reactions. It is divided into two parts: one is the palladium-catalyzed fluorination and related reactions, such as trifluoromethylation and trifluoromethoxylation, and the other is the copper-catalyzed radical trifluoromethylation of alkenes. Notably, due to the importance of optically pure fluorinate-containing organic compounds in the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries, enantioselective reactions are also highlighted herein.
