The formy1 - 2 ,2 - bisferrocenyl- propane was synthesized by vilsmeier reaction of 2 ,2 - bisferro- cenyl- propane with N,N- dimethylformamide in the presence of phosphorous oxychloride in CHCl3at( 5 5± 2 )℃ in high yield ( the yield of mono- formyl is about 70 %~ 75 % ) and conversion ( 80 %~ 86% ) ,the di- formyl- bisferrocenyl- propane was also obtained simultaneously in low yield. The aldehydo- derivatives were reduced to the corresponding hydroxymethy- bisferrocenyl- propanes us- ing KBH4/95 % CH3CH2 OH in good yield.The two final alcohols are promised to be effective and non- mi- gratory burning- rate modifiers of composite solid propellants.
