Nonpathogenic Fusarium oxysporum(NPFO) was developed as the biocontrol agent of the pathogenic strains of F. oxysporum. The biocontrol mechanism of NPDO included several modes of action contributing to their biocontrol capacity, such as competition for nutrition in the soil, affecting the rate of chlarnydospore gemlination of the pathogen, competition for infection sites on the root and triggering plant defense reactions (including systemic resistance). The application of nonpathogenic strains to biocontrol and the prospects for NPFO development are reviewed.
