A large amount of carbon materials have been widely used in high temperature gas-cooled reactor as its structural and fuel coating materials, including boron-containing carbon (BC) and isostatic pressure graphite (IG-110). Given that the presence of water and impurities which has been adsorbed in carbon materials will pose negative effects on material strength and service life of the reactor, this paper studies the water vapor adsorption characteristics of carbon materials in HTGR. Water vapor adsorption experiments were carried out on bulk and powder BC and IG-110 materials, and four moisture absorption models of porous materials were used for fitting and evaluation. The effects of temperature and pressure on the adsorption capacity of these two materials were consistent with adsorption kinetics.
