摘要
In China, atmospheric icing is of great danger to transmission lines. Taking several typical severe ice accidents occurring in China in past years as examples, this paper analyzes the reasons and conditions that cause severe ice accidents, and the results show that the transmission lines’ icing in China has such characteristics as long duration, high frequency of occurrences, large coverage area and great loss to national economy, etc. Based on author’s long-term observations and research on transmission lines’ icing in China, this paper summarizes the transmission lines’ icing as seven different types. Also, it indicates that the severe ice accidents occurred on Chinese transmission lines are caused by the hard glaze and the mixed rime.
