Exploring bifunctional electrocatalysts for the oxygen-evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen-evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline electrolytes may improve the efficiency of overall water splitting. In their Communication on page 6290 ff., X. W. Zhang, Z. Lin, and co-workers report hierarchical NiCo2O4 hollow microcuboids which are constructed from 1D nanowires and demonstrate their promising application in overall water splitting.
