摘要
An insulin-dependent diabetic manifested striking malabsorption due to hyperperistalsis and rapid intestinal transit in the course of "apathetic" thyrotoxicosis. Simultaneously, she had amelioration of diabetes. Substitution of medium-chain triglycerides in the diet led to considerable reduction in both steatorrhea and fecal fluid loss. Appropriate therapy for thyrotoxicosis led to return of normal intestinal function and resurgence of diabetic symptoms. (JAMA230:69-71, 1974)
