Abstract In this paper, bimetallic sulfide Co 9 S 8 /N−C@MoS 2 dodecahedral heterogeneous nanocages (DHNCs) are designed and synthesized via pyrolysis and sulfidation. The Co 9 S 8 /N−C@MoS 2 DHNCs with unique structure and composition display superior lithium storage performance (a reversible capacity of approximate 557 mA h g −1 at 5 A g −1 after 400 cycles) and potassium storage performance (a reversible capacity of about 100 mA h g −1 at 1 A g −1 after 100 cycles). The remarkable electrochemical properties are attributed to the synergistic effect of bimetallic sulfides and the special polyhedral hollow structure with the conductive N‐doped mesoporous carbon. This method could be used to develop new types of electrode materials with a heterogeneous hollow nanocages structure, which could enhance structural stability and mass transport kinetics for lithium‐ion batteries and potassium‐ion batteries.
