The clinical application of indirect ophthalmoscope in retinal disease before myopia operation

Objective To investigate the significance and necessity of indirect ophthalmoscope to the examination of mydriasis retinal.Methods ocular fundus of 994 case(1976 eyes)mydriasis were examined by indirect ophthalmoscope and recorded.Results there 372 eyes with retinal disease in the 994 case(1976 eyes).1760 eyes were under the age of 25 years,in which 1399 eyes were with high myopia(≥-6.00D),313 eyes were with retinal disease,the morbidity was 22.37%.there were 31 eyes with symptoms(8.33%),and there were 341 eyes without symptoms(91.67%).there were 7 eyes in the center retinal,and 365 eyes in the peripheral retinal.131 eyes with retinal disease was treated with laser photocoagulation.All eyes had been follwed up for 1 year.None retinal detachment was found.Conclusion indirect ophthalmoscope has an unique superiority in examining the retinal degeneration before laser in situ keratomileusis.
