Great corrosion resistance is necessary for Ti alloys and composites to be good structural materials in aqueous environments. Due to the high activation of Ti, Ti alloys and composites can easily form a passive film, which is mainly composed of TiO 2 , in an aqueous environment on their surface. In this article, the corrosion behavior of various Ti alloys and composites is reviewed. The review indicates that although the environment conditions have significantly influence on the corrosion behavior of Ti alloys and composites, the microstructure beneath the oxide film could also determine their corrosion behavior.
