Abstract Graphite-like carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ), has gained significant attention in the field of photocatalytic dye degradation during the past decade, owing to its simple preparation method and visible light response. In this study, g-C 3 N 4 /Bi 2 S 3 /MWCNT ternary heterostructure was prepared via a simple hydrothermal method, and its photocatalytic performance was compared with g-C 3 N 4 , Bi 2 S 3 , and g-C 3 N 4 /Bi 2 S 3 heterostructures, using malachite green dye as a test pollutant. The result showed that g-C 3 N 4 /Bi 2 S 3 /MWCNT heterostructure photocatalyst exhibit improved photocatalytic activity, compared to other catalysts, owing to the improved electron-hole separation efficiency and strong visible light absorption. The study offers a simple way to develop g-C 3 N 4 /Bi 2 S 3 /MWCNT visible-light-driven ternary heterostructure for dye wastewater treatment.
