Basic region leucine zipper proteins(bZIP) family is a kind of transcriptional factor and presents in all eukaryotes, involved in various processes of plant growth and development and response to biotic and abiotic stress. bZIP gene family have been reported in a few species about information analysis, but no news in tomato. We performed a genome-wide identification and analysis of the bZIP transcription factors that exist in the tomato genome. Total 76 bZIP gene family members were identified and categorized into 16 groups based on their gene structures, conserved motifs and phylogenetic relationships. The segmental duplication was the predominant way of bZIP gene expansion upon the gene distribution in chromosome and genetic analysis. The results of this study would provide a very useful reference for revealing the function analysis of tomato bZIP gene family and other species.
