A direct measurement and CT imaging utilizing thirty cadaver hips were performed in order to identify the normal size, geometry and intraosseous structures of the proximal femur and acetabulum. Special measurement tools were used to obtain the normal size of acetabulum, femoral head, and inclination of the hip joint. The cadaver was studied with CT scan, radiology, including color coated image procedure provides insight into the dynamic state of bone in this region. Despith limited resolution, color coated CT image is capable of portraying the concentration and orientation of major trabeculae in the proximal femur.
