Cobalt-catalysed transfer hydrogenation of quinolines and related heterocycles using formic acid under mild conditions

For the first time, transfer hydrogenation of quinolines and related heterocycles is performed with a non-noble metal based catalyst. [Co(BF₄)₂·6H₂O] in combination with phosphine L1 catalyses selectively, the mild reduction of N-heteroarenes using formic acid as hydrogen donor.
