Expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen in maxillary sinus squamous cell carcinomas

Objective:To investigate the expression of proliferating ce ll nuclear antigen(PCNA)in maxillary sinus squamous cell carcinomas(MSCCs)an d to determine the relationship between PCNA and the occurrence and development of MSCCs.Methods:SABC immunohistochemistry method was used to study PCNA in3 5MSCCs and15inverted papillomas of nasal sinus(NIPs).Results:All pos-it ive cells for PCNA were stained in nuclei.The PCNA labeled index(PCNA LI)of M SCCs and the PCNA LI of NIPs were86.94±9.83,46.14±2.66, respetively.The difference between them was signifi-cant (P0.001).Th e PCNA LI increased with the decreasing degree of histological differentiation (P0.05).Conclusion:The ex pression of PCNA is related to the occurrenc e and degree of differentiation of MSCCs.
