The glass-forming ability(GFA) indicators Trg,γ,δ,and φ were calculated for Ni-based bulk metallic amorphous alloy developed in the past.By means of linear regression,it was found that the direct proportional relationship between critical diameter Dmax, and each of the four GFA indicators could not be obtained, indicating that the parameters of Trg,γ,d,and φ could not properly reflect the GFA of Ni-based bulk amorphous alloys.Prediction parameters of GFA λn and e were evaluated, also. It was found that the values of λn for most Ni-based bulk metallic glasses, composed of components with similar atomic size were about 0.2.A linear relationship between Dmax and e could be obtained, suggesting that the values of Dmax of Nibased amorphous alloys were in direct proportion to e.Thus, the e could be used as a guideline to determine optimal alloy composition for developing new Ni-based bulk metallic glass.
