The article presents the results of the unsteady numerical simulation of the gas dynamics’ flow in the Rank- Hilsch vortex tube. It is shown that the formation of a helical flow structure in a vortex tube is unsteady. The results of the calculation showed the presence of self-rotation of the spiral vortex. Despite the fact that the intensity of this rotation is small compared to the main rotational flow, its contribution to the distribution of thermogasodynamic parameters in the energy separation chamber cannot be completely neglected.
