Improving relationships between pharmacists and pharmacist’s assistants

Volumes have been written about how managers should interact with their staff. Very little has been written on how employees should interact with management. This is particularly important for pharmacist’s assistants because they always work under the supervision of a pharmacist, whether it is direct or indirect. Pharmacists may complain that pharmacist’s assistants are not doing what is expected of them. Pharmacist’s assistants have expressed frustration and disappointment that they are not always given the respect or opportunities that they believe are due to them. A great deal of frustration can be avoided if pharmacist and assistant understand the different responsibilities they have. This article examines the responsibilities of pharmacists and pharmacist’s assistants.
