[Co-management of diabetes-liver disease: exploring new approaches for the management of chronic disease comorbidity].

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are two common chronic diseases, which are closely interconnected and mutually risk factors. The high prevalence and poor prognosis of T2DM and MASLD have substantially affected the healthcare of the people. They are focuses of public health problems in China, resulting in an increasing burden of medical and healthcare systems. Based on the current management of T2DM combined with MASLD, the paper aims to clarify the necessity of co-management of the two diseases, to introduce the "co-management of diabetes-liver disease" strategy, and to outline future direction.
