摘要
Our cultural heritage, an invaluable legacy from the past, shapes our present and future, serving as an irreplaceable resource for future generations. In the current era of rapid globalization, the importance of preserving and adapting traditional clothing and textile techniques has become increasingly apparent. Specifically, Chinese traditional styles and textile heritage have gained recognition as a rich source of inspiration for Western designers, leading to the emergence of “Asian chic” designs with an oriental aesthetic. For Chinese designers and domestic brands, these traditions are not just practical choices and aesthetic references but also fundamental to forging a distinct national and fashion identity. However, preserving these traditional Chinese styles and textile techniques is not without its challenges, particularly among the younger generation, and this is a matter of urgent concern. As we advance into an era characterized by digitalization and intelligent manufacturing, the urgency to explore innovative strategies that integrate traditional clothing styles and techniques into contemporary fashion becomes more pronounced. This study addresses this urgency and inspires action through a multiple-case approach. The findings indicate that designers and practitioners should prioritize three strategies: reviving traditional beauty, modernizing traditional elements, and integrating digital practices to foster sustainability and diversity in the global design, production, and dissemination of Chinese fashion styles and cultural heritage. This study will attempt to answer the question of the importance of maintaining authenticity, relevance, and innovation in traditional clothing styles in the face of changing esthetic preferences and technological advancements to promote the dissemination and modern redesign of cultural elements and the global recognition of Chinese fashion identity.
