Synthesis of Bis (S)-Naproxen Methyl Ester

OBJECTIVE Bis(S)-Naproxen methyl ester was designed and synthesized.METHODS The target compound was synthesized by the reaction of(S)-naproxen with chloromethyl ester of naproxen in the presence of K2CO3.The chloromethyl ester of naproxen was synthesized by reaction of the salt of naproxen with chlorobromomethane. RESULTS The structure of the compound was confirmed by 1H-NMR.The bis(S)-Naproxen methyl ester is(+)-enantiomer.The metabolism of bis(S)-Naproxen methyl ester was discussed initially.CONCLUSION The bis(S)-Naproxen methyl ester is chiral compound.The reaction condition was mild and the purity was high.The yield was 87%.
