Abstract A recent study showed that olfaction may play a role in the development of gliomas in cancer-prone mice. Researchers found that stimulating olfactory neurons promotes tumor growth in the animals, whereas inhibiting the neurons leads to smaller gliomas. The study also determined that mice with one plugged nostril had larger tumors on the unobstructed side.
