Abstract A new type of ternary core-shell composites, carbonyl iron powder@Fe3O4@polyaniline (CIP@Fe3O4@PANI) has been successfully prepared by a two-step method. The morphology, structure, composition, and the performances of microwave-absorbing and corrosion resistance of the prepared composites were investigated via a series of characterization methods. Fe3O4 surrounding CIP could adjust the electromagnetic parameter and enhancing the impedance matching of CIP and space electromagnetic waves, while PANI could adjust the absorbing frequency band and prevent the corrosion of CIP particles. The test results indicated that CIP@Fe3O4@PANI composites had superior magnetic properties, oxidation resistance, and high saturation magnetization as well as good stability in high temperature air atmosphere. Besides, the CIP@Fe3O4@PANI contained coating showed better corrosion resistance than neat epoxy and CIP coating. Due to the excellent properties, CIP@Fe3O4@PANI composites can be an outstanding candidate for the rapid development of broadband shielding and anticorrosive materials.
