In order to synthesize cationic polyacrylamide(CPAM) with high intrinsic viscosity and excellent stable performance, different reaction conditions have been explored including the type of initiator and different factors. The results indicates that the optimum reaction conditions were when monomer ratio of n(AM)∶n(DMC) was 1∶0.19, the monomer concentration was 35%, the amount of the initiator was 0.06 wt.%, pH value was 7 and illumination time was 60 min. FTIR spectrum showed that analysis results are consistent with the characteristics of group CPAM.
